Very disturbing

Check out this link. This is very sad that America is coming to this! Parents need to be able to know what their children are being taught, and have the right to refuse some types of "education". Vote yes for Prop 8!

Happy Halloween!

I love Halloween! I think I'm more excited about all the cute trick-or-treaters coming by in their costumes than they probably are (OK, probably not!). I love scary movies, I love haunted houses, and I mostly love Halloween because it's the start of the holiday season...which means party time for the next couple of months ;)! So, enjoy your sugar buzz day!

By the way

Today was my expected due date...crazy huh?!

Dinner-in-a-pumpkin

So, my coworker gave me this recipe that she uses every Halloween, and I thought I'd give it a try. It sounds yummy! So, if any of you decide to try it, tell me what you think!

1 small pumpkin, hallowed out
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
8 oz can water chestnuts
1 small onion
1 1/2 C cooked rice
2 lbs hamburger
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 can mushrooms

Brown the onion and hamburger; drain grease
To the meat add: 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 small can mushrooms, 1 can cream of chicken soup
Simmer mix for 10 minutes
Add 1 1/2 cups cooked rice and can of water chestnuts
Place mix in the pumpkin and cover with pumpkin top or tin foil
Bake pumpkin @ 400 degrees for 1 hour
Scoop out casserole and part of pumpkin to serve (Pumpkin tastes like squash)

May cook in a casserole dish and top with almonds or Chinese noodles. Bake @ 350 degrees for this method.

6 Weeks

So, can I just tell you how excited I am that we've reached that magical 6 week mark? I feel like I haven't worked out in forever, and I still have plenty of baby weight and then some to get rid of. I'm so excited to be able to do that now! I don't think I ever thought I'd be so excited about working out, but it's the whole of idea of being told you can't do something that makes you want to do it even more! Probably not the best time to start Weight Watchers with the holidays coming on, but carpe diem right? If not now then when?!

A visit

Aunt "Mamy" came up this weekend to visit, and was wonderful enough to get some pictures of him for us to make a birth announcement (by the way, I need some current addresses from some of you...you know who you are!), so I thought I'd post some of my favorites...don't worry, I'm not posting the one that's on his birth announcement!

Sleeping in the car seat after church. This is the first "real" outfit he's been in...I love his shoes!
Looks like he's thinking hard

Freakin' Finally!!!

So, I'm sure that for many of you, this happened a long time ago, but for some reason, Rexburg is always behind! But, today, gas is $2.99. Finally below $3!!!!!! It's been dropping about 8 cents a day the past few days, and I hope it keeps up it's trend. This is going to make me sound old, but when I was in High School, gas was only 98 cents and I could fill up half my tank with $5! Ahhh the good old days, and I'm glad that the gasoline companies are finally giving my pockets a break (they really aren't that deep!).

Not much going on around here

Sorry if ya'll get annoyed with the overabundance of pictures of Landen, but that's all that's going on right now. I'm so used to being more busy with work that it's kind of taken an adjustment to learn to just sit and relax and try to get as much sleep as I can. But, he's started waking up more, and by that I mean that he doesn't just eat and sleep, he'll actually stay awake after eating for a little while which is turning out to be so much fun. He's such a doll...don't get me wrong, the kid has quite a temper when he doesn't get what he wants right away, but most of the time, he's very content. So, here's some pictures of what he's been up to the last week and a half at home...not much!
Here's him with his 8 inch comparison bear to get a measurement for him at one month.
Shading his eyes from the camera
Taking a bath in the sink
Usually he loves his bath, so him being cranky about it was kind of cute
Here's the happy guy we usually see at tubby time
He's graduated to the big boy bath

There's no place like home!

That's right folks, the little guy has finally been able to come home after 25 days in the hospital! So, I've been able to survive my first sleepless night, and poor Brian spent his night on the couch so that he could get more sleep since he had to drive down to Pocatello this morning for drill, so he won't be back until Sunday evening. But, my mom came up to help out...thank goodness cause I have no idea what the heck I'm doing! So here's some pics from his first day at home.

So comfy with Grandma Rosenlund
I'm such a big boy already, I can hold my own bottle!
Snoozing in my new crib.
BJ wondering what all the fuss is about and why that thing keeps making all the noise.
Getting a closer look.
And an even closer look, even a sniff...no licking please!
A proud papa with his boy!

Free handbags

So I saw this on a friend's blog and thought I'd continue to share the love. They're giving away CUTE handbags, so if you want one, check it out http://www.handbagplanet.com/.

No more tube!!!!!!!!!

They pulled his tube this morning...which means that if he keeps eating well, like a good little boy, they'll let him come home tomorrow or Friday! Hip hip hooray!

3rd week and counting

So here we are at our 3rd, and hopefully final, week at the hospital. The nurses seem confident that he will be home before the weekend, which is good since my mom is planning on coming up on Friday. He's doing really well. He's now taking all his feedings by bottle, and whatever he doesn't finish, they're giving down the tube, but he's averaging about half, if not more of his feedings as of today...so, we're crossing our fingers that he will be home by Thursday, latest Friday. He's now 5 pounds 12 1/2 ounces and 19 inches long for those of you that like numbers.

You can see that his face is filling out. He's starting to look different. Oh, and he loves his pacifier.
He's graduated to a big boy bed, and you can see that his tummy is filling out too....super cute!
Just chillin' getting the rest of his food through his tube...no work involved!

Oh BJ!

So, I haven't put anything about BJ on here in awhile, and he gave me a prime opportunity while I was in the shower this morning. If he weren't so cute and obviously having the time of his life, I probably would have been angry, but all I could do was laugh. Hope you get a chuckle out of it!
Hmmm...wonder who made the mess. Just in case he wasn't standing in the middle of it, the evidence hanging from his mouth gave him away. He looks quite pleased with himself!
Just so you can get the whole effect of his artwork.
